Founder of Auburn University's Mosaic Theatre Company and Artistic Director from Spring 2011-Fall 2013
In 2011, following my receipt of the Janet and John Stone Award and Lectureship for Multicultural Understanding, Equality, and Justice, then Dean of Auburn University's College of Liberal Arts, Dr. Anna Gramberg, approached me about setting up a theatre company that would explore issues of diversity in the hopes that it would promote dialogue about difficult topics on campus and beyond. In 2012, I auditioned students for the inaugural Mosaic Theatre Company. After one week of intensive rehearsing with me, Joan Lipkin joined us for a month, leading to our first performance in June 2012. I remained with the company through its second summer intensive in 2013, before leaving Auburn to join the faculty at Hobart and William Smith colleges and found our own Mosaic NY. Mosaic Theatre Company is now in its sixth consecutive season and is headed by Dr. Tessa Carr.
The following are links to performances materials from Mosaic Theatre Company during the time I was Artistic Director.
