One of the last things mom made me promise as she was taken away by the Green Monster was to vote. Halloween, New Year’s Eve and Election Day were the most important holidays at mom’s house. Especially Election Day because it was a day for taking action. This year she was planning a huge party for anyone who showed up wearing an “I voted!” sticker. After all, she said, “any day you fight the monsters is worth celebrating.” I don’t feel much like partying right now but I want to keep my promise to her. Now if I could just figure out how I can safely get to the polls and cast my vote…

Moving to Texas from New York has been difficult. Everything is so different and I’m so different from everyone here. I’m afraid people won’t accept me because of it and I haven’t really made a lot of friends. My friends from back home are all voting for the first time this year and I wanna join them but I’m scare of coming close to the Green Monster. I don’t know what to do, but maybe Val can help me…

As if there’s not enough to worry about right now with the Green Monster running around, now we have to figure out a freaking election too??? I used to think I could just stay out of politics cause, hello! It’s no fun! But now with the Green Monster getting stronger and the Orange monster causing more damage than ever before, I know I can’t just use my phone for social media anymore. If I’ve got time to scroll through the pictures my friend’s nephew’s dog-walker’s cousin is posting from the beach, I have time to get political! Ughh…. Even if I wish my friends and I were chatting about less stress inducing things.

Ever since the Orange Monster arrived, the people in my community have felt lost, alone and afraid. Now with the Green Monster on the loose, these feelings have only been amplified. This election year can really help finally get rid of both of these monsters, but I know I can’t do it by myself. That’s why whenever anyone needs help to vote, I’ll always be there to guide them through it!
