New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation

Mosaic NY performs for all incoming students as part of their orientation to HWS. The company designs this performance to: model ideal interactions for developing a healthy and inclusive community, provide resources, destigmatize talking honestly and openly about fraught topics, encourage students to think creatively, and connect students with their peers. Topics covered at Orientation have included: sexual assault / harassment, sex positivity and enthusiastic consent, confronting racism, anxiety and depression, sexuality and gender inclusivity, microaggressions, how to be a good roommate, what it is like to feel isolated or marginalized on campus, finding an on campus home, and much more.

Below you will find examples of pieces we performed at Orientation and other self-produced events on campus that follow a relatively traditional theatrical model with a structured performance followed by a talkback with the audience.
